Why do you make art?
Mental yoga, spiritual quest and for creative pleasure.

How do you begin a piece/body of work?
A vision or an idea.

A work on colour and matter in a composition of lines.

Is there a specific intent or message behind your work?
At the moment I’m working on the theme of humanity surviving in urban environment.

What is the most irritating question you are asked about your work?
How many paintings do I paint per year? Production production !!!

Who are your favorite and most loathed artists?
Nicolas de Stael,  Arnold Szenes. Most loathed… Dubuffet.

What do you admire in a work or art or artist?
The impact the work of art has.

Whose work would you like in your home?
Zao Wou Ki.

Do you identify with any artists? Who and why?
Mondrian who painted trees then buildings, swithing from figurative to abstract.

Who are your heroes?
I don’t believe in heroes.

Who has influenced your art making?
My great-grandfather, a Nabi, was the first to inspire me.

Have you ever tried to stop making art?
NEVER !!!

When is it difficult to make art?
When the nitty-gritty details of daily life obstruct my source of inspiration.

What are your goals as an artist?
Create beauty, give serenity and help people be more aware of certain issues.

What would you do if you couldn't make art?
Write about it !

What do you need more than anything else to make art?
Love and serenity.

What is your favourite museum, gallery, place to see art and why?
Home, best place to contemplate the art I love, as long as I wish.

The conflict of the cerebral with the emotional.

When is your most creative time of the day?
Afternoon and evening.

What is “bizarre” for you?
The meaningless.

Fall and its colours.

What do you like to listen to while your work and how much influence does music have on your creations?
Music, lots of it, any kind, depends on my mood.

When are you happiest?
When I feel satisfied with what I’ve just finished. Seldom happens !

What was the most shocking thing you've ever seen or done?
I don’t know… I guess I forgot on purpose.
