Something from Nothing designs products for mass and batch production, whilst also creating limited edition pieces available on commission.
We believe in a research based approach to design that keeps both client and end user involved in the creative process, thus ensuring we deliver beautiful, but also effective results.
Inspiration for Something from Nothings work comes from life, the world around us and how we interpret it. By working with new materials and technologies, and tackeling new issues we hope to continually deliver exciting and well considered artefacts.
Since graduating in 2005, Mark has developed into a multi-faceted designer working for and with some of the world's top architecture and design companies, as well as designing a range of products for Something From Nothing.
Mark has spent time in an architectural capacity at Foster Associates and TP Bennet, as well as honing his furniture design skills at renowned designer/makers Unto This Last.
Following the great success of his iconic Wired Lamp, showcased at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2008, his company Something from Nothing became a full-time project, expanding in late 2008 to offer graphic and interior design services.
As well as creating interiors and brands for several high profile clients in 2009, Mark has been designing a new furniture range to be launched at the London Design Festival in September 2009.
Tom Tobia
Having gained national recognition for projects with the R.S.A. and The Design Council in 2004, Tom has developed both his graphic and spatial design skills in roles at D&AD and Above Consultancy. Positions in which he led various projects from museum design London to brand development in provincial China.
As well as this Tom has spent time freelancing, consulting, lecturing at various Universities, is regularly invited to take part in think-tanks and workshops, and has twice been a guest at Buckingham Palace as a result of his work in socially driven design.
Tom has worked extensively in D2P as well as museum and exhibition design and is equally comfortable working two and three dimensions.
Tom is a fellow of of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (R.S.A.) as well as being a member of D&AD.
